FAQ
Which network does Hourglass run on?
Solana. The app shows the network next to your wallet, and your wallet must be on the same one. All payments are in USDC (Circle's mint for that network); transaction fees are in SOL.
Which wallets work?
Solana browser wallets that follow the Wallet Standard, such as Phantom, Solflare and Backpack. USB hardware wallets are not offered in the app.
Why do I have to be approved?
Every participant is identified, and sellers are checked as businesses, before they trade; the programs check approval on chain at every order, transfer and delivery step. See Apply and get approved.
What exactly do I get for one node-week?
One NVIDIA HGX node with eight H100 SXM 80 GB GPUs on NVSwitch, bare metal with Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, at least 1 TB of ECC RAM, 20 TB of local NVMe and 200 Gbps of front-end Ethernet with a public IP, for 168 hours from Monday 00:00 UTC, with SSH access under your key. The seller may deliver an HGX H200 node instead, at the same price.
Can I buy more than one node, or more than one week?
Yes. Bid for several node-weeks in one series, each delivered as its own node, and bid in consecutive weekly series for longer runs.
When do I pay?
When you place a bid, the full amount at your limit price plus the 0.5% trade fee goes into the series' escrow. After the auction you get back the difference to the clearing price and anything that did not fill. Your money stays in escrow until the week settles; the seller is paid only for certified hours.
What if I don't need the node after all?
Sell or transfer the claim before notice, Friday 00:00 UTC, 72 hours before the week: at a later auction of the same series, or directly to another approved wallet. A claim neither requested nor sold by notice is not delivered, and its payment goes to the seller.
What if the node goes down during the week?
Each hour that isn't certified healthy is refunded. Beyond the first 1.68 hours short, each missing hour also pays you damages from the seller's collateral: the larger of 25% of the price and the reference spot price above it. If something is wrong, file a fault on the ticket so the seller can cure it within 4 hours. See Delivery week.
Does Hourglass see my workloads?
No. The Delivery Agent reports GPU visibility, UUIDs, XID errors and reachability, and answers inspectors' health probes; it never reads files, processes or sessions. Your SSH key is encrypted in your browser to the seller's key; Hourglass relays only ciphertext, and only the key's hash is on chain.
Can I sell part of my cluster?
Yes. Each node is accredited on its own and each node-week is sold on its own. Reserve capacity per node and per week, and post collateral for what you ask.
How fast am I paid as a seller?
Each ticket settles after the week's 24-hour challenge window, and the escrow for its certified hours goes to your wallet then. Node-weeks the buyer did not request at notice are paid to you just after notice. A lender can advance up to 75% of a filled obligation's escrow before then; see Lenders.
Is there an Hourglass token?
Yes: $HOURGLASS, with a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000, all of it launched to the public on equal terms. Every fee the protocol keeps buys $HOURGLASS on the market and burns it. See $HOURGLASS. Separately, each series issues claims, one per node-week, which are your positions in the market.
Where is the full specification?
The whitepaper specifies every mechanism, formula, deadline and account; the litepaper summarises it.
